Mental Calculation - Quantitative Reasoning
You will hear short arithmetic word problems spoken aloud. Solve each problem mentally.
Do not use paper, a calculator, or another device. Enter only the numeric answer.
Each item has a 30-second limit. You may repeat the question once if the audio was not clear.
The session uses 22 randomized items selected from easy through semi-hard tiers.
Items are ordered from easier to harder, but the exact questions vary by session.
This is a WAIS-inspired practice/norming task, not an official WAIS administration.
Turn your volume on. Question text is hidden during normal testing to preserve the working-memory load.

| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Items | 22 randomized questions drawn from 960 stable original items |
| Scoring | 1 point for each exact numeric answer |
| Time limit | 30 seconds per item |
| Draft estimate | Raw-score mean 15 and SD 3.5, transformed to an IQ-equivalent scale with mean 100 and SD 15 |
| Item norms | Public item-level WAIS norms were not available; this app records item ID, timing, repeats, and correctness for local norm building. |
WAIS-IV publicly used 22 dichotomous Arithmetic items; WAIS-5 score entry allows a 0-25 Arithmetic raw score and places Arithmetic with fluid-reasoning measures. The IQ-equivalent and percentile above are provisional, are not age-adjusted, and are not an official WAIS, Full Scale IQ, or Working Memory Index score. They will be recalibrated when representative local data are available.
